Anniversaries

Anniversaries, they come and go 

And just like that saying about the river 

We are not the same before and after it 

Anniversaries, they sharpen our senses

The tools that help dig deep 

And call bullshit about friends, lovers and other life events 

Here I am watching the river flow and I'm scared to cross it, not from the darkness of water, but who will I be after 

Anniversaries, I just want to be close to my loved ones, hug them, let them melt into me, feel their warmth, I pray they will help me carry on 

Anniversaries, give me the power to embrace them and pass them
