I am a drop in the sea in a blizzard

I am a leaf tossed around in the air

I am a stone being thrown from a mountain

I am a ball rolling down a stair

I am a book-cover binding no pages

I am a picture of blanket black

I am the sound of a thundering silence

I am the haunt of a boundless crack

A crumpled heap on the floor of the toilet

Floating stranded in outer space

An attended-to fortunate cripple

I’m an inmate of a frightening place

I am a mild case of over sensation

I am statistics’ standard deviant

I take my seat in society’s stage-set

Eternal raver in a silent rant;

We feel the pain so that we can feel pleasure

We dive so deep so that we stay afloat

We take more punishment than is our part but

We almost know something that you don’t
